Ain’t nobody left alive gonna listen to me sing,
Without ears to hear and eyes to see I may as well not say a thing.
Well the tongue of time’s left me well behind but there’s nothing for me any way,
I mean I’m no-one just some hoodlum trying to pretend I’m a high end someone.

One step is never enough and this race is only just begun,
If you wanna get anywhere in life you gotta beat the bullet from the gun.
I ain’t saying it’s easy ain’t sayin it’s hard you never know what’s gonna come,
But the race isn’t over if you get a good start you know you’re still gonna have to run

And it ain’t easy to do what you know is right,
It ain’t easy to walk towards the light,
It ain’t easy to admit you can’t stand alone,
It ain’t easy to lose everything but hope.

Well in my time of dying I will welcome the call of death,
But right now I’m a-running I’m a-running out of breath.

Once again I find myself staring to oblivion
Waiting for the cracks to appear from within and without I feel like the nowhere man
Darkness comes like a thief in the night ‘till there ain’t nothin left to steel
And I stand here blinded by the lights wonderin if it’s really real.

I can’t preach or prophesise but when the cracks start to reappear
I think to myself what it must be like to be a headlight before the dear.
So many times I’ve been flat on my face that I don’t wanna every get up,
But if it kills me I’m gonna finish this race I know I can’t ever give up.
